Public telephone booths equipped for wheelchair access are mainly available at welfare facilities, parks, etc., and offer the following features.
The height of the cabinet support is lower than that for ordinary installations.
The height of the stand support is lowered than that for ordinary installations.
The Meiryo Public Telephone is equipped with a volume control function to amplify the incoming voice signal by up to 18 times to enable those with impaired hearing to use public telephones.
Digital public telephones include a volume control dial as a standard function that enables the incoming voice signal to be amplified as required. A built-in induction coil permits the usage of a hearing aid in the T-mode and offers noise-free sound.
The card slot and coin slot are indicated in Braille to enable those with impaired sight to use public telephones.
Some public telephones are equipped with a function to provide voice announcements of the remaining call units when a telephone card is inserted (optional function).
