Application for Fixed-Line to IP Telephone Service

NTT East Corporation and NTT West Corporation (NTT East and West) today have applied to the Minister of Public Management, Home Affairs, Posts and Telecommunication for approval of setting end-to-end charges for the new communications service from fixed-line and public telephone to IP telephone (050 numbers) which is planned to be provided.

The charges for this service will be announced separately.

1. Application Details
The service enables customers to call 050 numbers, which were assigned to IP telephones starting last September, from fixed-line and public telephone, by connecting the fixed-line networks of NTT East and West with IP telephone networks. (See attachment for details.)

Approval is required for NTT East and West to set end-to-end call charges, which includes the telecommunications service provided by the IP telephone network carriers.

2. Implementation Schedule (provisional)
Service will start after approval is received and as soon as preparations allow (estimated in October 2003).

(Calls can be made only to IP telephone numbers (050) owned by carriers who have applied for connecting their IP telephone networks with the fixed-line of NTT East and West. No action is required of the customer to use this service. )
