The application forms shipped with L-mode terminals, etc., will be accepted as of Wednesday, June 6. For information on how to make application, etc., dial 116 (no local prefix) during business hours (9:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m., weekends and holidays included). |

(includes 180 yen for L-mode usage and 20 yen for message arrival notification service)
Note:
In addition to the above, there is a 100 yen Internet connection charge assessed by interconnecting carriers. The total charge for use of the service is therefore 300 yen.
*When i-Number service or DID service is used and L-mode is subscribed for more than one number, the above charges apply to each subscription. (e.g., three subscriptions cost 900 yen/month.) |

There is no charge for subscription to this service and no installation fees are charged. |

The charge for issuing an L-mode card, required to use the service from a IC card
payphone, is 500 yen per card. (One card is issued per subscription.)
Use of an L-mode card must be applied for separately.
*An L-mode card can be used at IC card payphones anywhere in Japan. |
2. Status of content provider applications to appear on the L-menu list |

Currently around 400 companies have applied to offer content that can be accessed from the L-menu list. Of these, approximately 200 firms are considering timing the start of content provision with the startup of L-mode service. |
3. Other |
 |
On April 18, 2001, the Ministry of Public Management, Home Affairs, Posts and Telecommunications indicated measures to be taken to assure user convenience and fair competition. On May 14 NTT East and NTT West reported to the Ministry their intention to study the appropriate means of addressing these concerns, including discussions with the parties concerned. This report is outlined in Attachment 1. |
