Reduction of Charges for Local Phone Calls and
New Terms for Provision of the TIME PLUS Phone Discount Services


Nippon Telegraph and Telephone East (NTT EAST) and Nippon Telegraph and Telephone West (NTT WEST) today submitted notifications to Ministry of Public Management, Home Affairs, Posts and Telecommunications concerning reductions to fees charged for local phone calls and making to terms for the provision of our TIME PLUS discount service.


1. Reductions to fees charged for local phone calls

The current charges for local phone calls (daytime and nighttime) will be reduced to 8.5 yen per 3 minutes effective May 1, 2001.

2.Revisions to provision condition for Time Plus, INS Time Plus, Area Plus, INS Area Plus rate discount service

As phone charges are reduced, new charges are adopted for Time Plus, INS Time Plus, Area Plus, INS Area Plus In addition, the monthly fee for INS Time Plus is lowered to 200 yen from 350 yen.The details are as follows

2. The date of the start of option fee reduction will be adopted depending on the customer's charge-calculation period.
3. Customers currently using these Time Plus, INS Time Plus, Area Plus or INS Area Plus need not submit new applications to revisions to the service provision conditions.

3. Scale of reduction in terms of revenue (per annum, at the 8.8 yen charge per 3 minutes)

NTT East is expected to register a 13.0 billion yen decrease in revenue.
NTT West is expected to register a 12.0 billion yen decrease in revenue.
