Reduction of Charges on High-Super Digital Leased
Circuit Service and ATM Leased Service and Expansion
of Discount Service


In response to the demand for lower call charges and to further increase convenience for customers, Nippon Telegraph and Telephone East Corporation (NTT East) and Nippon Telegraph and Telephone West Corporation (NTT West) today submitted notification to the Minister of Posts and Telecommunications of the following reduction of charges on high-super digital leased circuit services and ATM leased services as well as the expansion of discount services.
The changes comply with the price-cap system to be introduced on October 1, 2000.

1.Reduction of Charges on High-Super Digital Leased Circuit Services and ATM Leased Services
(1) Outline
As well as implementing a reduction in charges on medium- and high-super products among high-super digital leased circuit services, line charges for distances over 90km will be standardized for all high-super digital leased circuit services and ATM leased services.

Note 1: Refer to the appendix for actual charges after reductions.
Note 2: Y interface products are excluded from high-super digital leased circuit services.
Note 3: Rates of reductions are calculated for price reductions in bands up to distances of 240km.

2.Expansion of Discounts for High Usage
(1) Outline
We will expand the applicability of the high-usage discounts applied individually for each of the general leased service, the high-super digital leased circuit service (SD), and the ATM leased service and provide high-usage discounts based on combined charges for the three services.
We will also provide more precise discount rates by further refining the usage value bands.

(2) New Discount Rates New Discount Rates
Note:As with the conventional discounts, the new discounts will apply to monthly basic charges (basic charge, additional charge, multi-point line charge, and branch charge).

3.Increase of Discounts for Continuous Long-Term Usage
(1) Outline
With regard to continuous long-term usage, we will increase the discount rate for long-term three-year contracts for high-super leased circuit services and ATM leased services.

(2) New Discount Rates New Discount Rates
Note:As with the conventional discounts, the new discounts will apply to monthly basic charges (basic charge, additional charge, multi-point line charge, and branch charge).

4.Partial Abolition of Minimum Usage Period
We will abolish the minimum usage period (one year) for the 64kb/s and 128kb/s (including DA64 and DA128) high-super digital leased circuit service.

5.Implementation
The changes are scheduled for implementation on Sunday, October 1, 2000.
