QCan you make international calls from all public telephones?
APublic telephones that can make international calls show “international calls available” on the display panel.
QHow do I make an international call?
APlease dial carrier code + 010 + country code + telephone number.
QCan a public telephone be used during a power failure?
AService availability depends on the type of telephone.

Notice:

  • Note 1: A public telephone cannot be used if its coin box is full.
  • Note 2: Because digital public telephones (colored gray) are powered by batteries, they cannot be used if the battery runs down.
  • Note 3: Although the display screen on the green digital public telephones will stay on, the auxiliary light will go off.
QAre emergency call buttons provided on all public telephones?
AAlthough emergency call buttons are not provided on some green public telephones, emergency calls can be made from these public telephones by simply picking up the receiver and dialing the emergency number (e.g., 110 or 119).
QWhat can I do with unused telephone cards?
ANTT East does not repurchase unused telephone cards. However, they may be applied to the payment of NTT East dial call charges (a handling fee is required). Call 116 (in Japanese only).
QHow long is the exchange period for IC telephone cards?
AThe exchange period is five years from the day following the expiration date that is printed on the back of your IC telephone cards.
When the valid exchange period expires, your IC telephone cards will not be replaced, so you are advised to make an exchange as early as you can.
QDo you charge a fee for exchanging IC telephone cards?
AA handling fee of 100 yen (tax-free) will be charged per card.
QMy telephone card does not work on public telephones.
AIf your magnetic telephone card does not work on public telephones, we will exchange it for another telephone card having an equivalent number of call units remaining on the telephone card, regardless of it being unused or in-use. For more information, please contact us below.
