Service Overview

"Business Ether WIDE" from NTT EAST is a next-generation broadband Ethernet service that utilizes NGN technology to deliver much higher quality, higher reliability than ordinary broadband Ethernet services.

With Business Ether WIDE, a broadband network that spans multiple prefectures in Eastern Japan can be provided with a single one-stop service that covers all steps from application to development, maintenance and invoicing. (*1)
Connecting to networks of participating carriers means a seamless network can be developed that spans the entire country. (*2)
If the customer has offices within the same zone, they can select either an "inter-prefecture trunk line" or an "intra-zone trunk line" to suit their network configuration so that the service can be used at the optimum charges. (*3)

  • *3:If all offices are within the same zone of the same communication group, customers can select either an "intra-zone trunk line" or an "inter-prefecture trunk line."
    Each zone includes the following prefectures.
    Tohoku Zone: Aomori Prefecture, Akita Prefecture, Iwate Prefecture, Yamagata Prefecture, Miyagi Prefecture, Fukushima Prefecture
    Kanto-Koushin'etsu Zone: Niigata Prefecture, Nagano Prefecture, Yamanashi Prefecture, Gunma Prefecture, Tochigi Prefecture, Ibaraki Prefecture, Saitama Prefecture, Tokyo Metropolis, Chiba Prefecture, Kanagawa Prefecture
    • An "intra-zone trunk line" and "inter-prefecture trunk line "cannot be used together with the same communication group.
      To use an "intra-zone trunk line," no connection can be made with the networks of participating carriers.
    • To change between "intra-zone trunk line" ? "inter-prefecture trunk line," installation work is required that will result in interruptions to communications. Selecting "inter-prefecture trunk line" is recommended if there are plans to add offices in the future that extend beyond zones.
  • *4:MA (Message Area) refers to an area designated by NTT EAST in which calls can be made at the local call rate.

High reliability with constant monitoring and malfunction notification for each line

Business Ether WIDE utilizes Ethernet OAM technology (for checking communication with monitoring frames) to constantly monitor each line. In the event that there is a malfunction, the maintenance center quickly sends a notification of the malfunction, resulting in reliability that is so much higher than ordinary Ethernet services.

  • *Constant monitoring by Ethernet OAM uses a portion of the subscribed bandwidth.
  • *Specify an email address that can be used even if there is a malfunction in the Business Ether WIDE line for sending malfunction notifications.

Comprehensive security and a high level of reliability

Business Ether WIDE is a closed network equivalent to a dedicated service. Virtual LAN technologies are employed to provide ample security for each customer, so there is no need to worry about unauthorized access.
The network between trunk lines is designed with redundancy as standard, and additional redundancy options are also available between access sections (Dual Access). In the event of malfunctions, the network will automatically switch to the backup line. This allows business networks that require extremely high levels of reliability to be developed.

In order to reduce costs for the customer when implementing Dual Access, the "Dual Access Selector Type" is available in a single optical network unit (ONU) to provide redundancy between access sections in addition to "Dual Access Normal Type," which requires two optical network units (ONU).

Comprehensive security and a high level of reliability

SLA (Service Level Agreement)

NTT EAST's SLA is one of the highest levels available in the industry. A high level SLA is available in three areas: "failure recovery time," "delay time" and "uptime."
A new failure recovery time SLA of less than 10 minutes has been set for the Dual Access category with Business Ether WIDE. This delivers a much higher service quality than ordinary Business Ether.

Dual Access

Ethernet with a greater level of reliability

As a means of safeguarding against intra-access zone failure, the line redundancy service has enabled a significant reduction to the cost of 2 single access lines, which in the past was necessary.
It is not only for those who need reliability and stability across backbone and core banking networks, but together with the growing requirements of BCPs(Business Continuity Planning), it acts as a precautionary measure for those who want a more reliable Ethernet service, or for those who are concerned about the reliability of their current Ethernet service.
